The Opening
The official opening of the property is taking place on the 11th of June (invites only we‘re afraid). The ribbon will be cut by the Bishop of London The Rt Rev’d and Rt Hon Richard Chartres DD FSA and our other Patron Tanya Byron BSc MSc PsychD will also be there.
It is a day to celebrate the work of Prospex so far and say thank you to everyone that has made it possible.
The Property
This has now become a real hub for local young people and has now held two Friday night open house as a drop in for young people. This has been a huge success with thirty three young people the first night. It has meant young people have something to do and go on a Friday rather than just hanging around on the street.
New appointment
We are pleased to welcome James Connolly as the new operations manager. He has already made a huge difference with his skills and has become a valued member of the team.
Boston
Following the success of the Anti Social Behaviour work on the Boston Estate last year we have received further funding for a ten week programme which has just begun. It will be a mix of trips, activities and educational activities.
Prospex Works
Prospex Works have recently painted the front of the property and the shutters making the front of the property look presentable and to the standard of the rest of the building
Recycling Project
We have recently embarked on a recycling project. With two young people turning pallets into flower planters. This has involved them learning some carpentry and machining skills under the direction of Beef Frankland. The end result is they look great and we have our first orders. Due to the success of this project we are looking to develop it into a youth enterprise, so watch this space. We have a number of the planters on display outside the property planted be Green Space.
Coming Soon…Prospex Direct
This is where you will be able to buy products made by our young people such as the planters mentioned above. It will be in the form of an online shop.
Building Links
We are pleased to be working with Chris from Street Level in our detached work and are currently developing a partnership with them.
