Prospex Street team
Recently commissioned by Islington Council for three years our Street Team work remains at the heart of what we do at Prospex.
Our Street Teams actively go out and engage with young people who are hanging about on the streets, estates and parks. They build up a relationship of trust with these young people this then enables them to gain the information they need, access positive activities, employment opportunities or help back into education either through another Prospex service or by referring to another provider.
The Street Team members are easily identified by wearing clothing clearly displaying the Prospex logo.
Prospex believes that working in partnership with other providers is essential in offering young people the best possible youth provision and choice. The most effective way of demonstrating that is by actively working together.
Our Street Teams currently do this by teaming up with the Y-Team on a Monday evening between 6 and 9pm either on foot or helping man the Y-Bus a mobile youth centre. It is good for the young people we work with to see us physically working together as this helps them to think wider than just Prospex and as workers each group can learn from the other.
Currently our Prospex Street Teams can be found on Tuesday and Friday evenings at varying times from 6pm onwards. Each session is for a minimum of 2.5 hours and the teams work in pairs.
They can also be found on Monday evening and Thursday afternoons in partnership with the Y-Team.
The area they cover includes the following and their surrounding roads:
- Central: Bemerton, Boston and Nailour Estate, Bingfield Park, Delhi Outram Estate.
There will soon be three teams operating on Tuesdays and Fridays that will cover these areas and the surrounding roads:
- North: Ring Cross and Westbourne Estate. (This includes Market Road)
- South: Barnsbury Estate, Barnard Park, Copenhagen St, Half Moon Estate and Moorland Mews.
