December 07

Dear Supporters,

Firstly I must apologies for the lack of updates/newsletters since you signing up to Prospex; we had some uninvited gremlins in our system which we have now evicted. It is now our intention to send you monthly newsletters from January 2008. In the mean time here is a little taster of what we have been up to in 2007.  It has been another busy year at Prospex during 2007 with lots of challenges and successes. Here is just a little taster. The big event this year was the official opening of the centre on 11th June and many came to help us celebrate. The centre has become a real hub for young people enabling us to work with them more effectively.

Our detached work is still paramount to all we do and our workers can be seen regularly out on the estates engaging with young people. To compliment this we also now open the building a couple of evenings which is proving popular especially when it is cold.

Prospex Works has moved forward this year under Maxine’s leadership. There are now four work placement schemes running with a fifth starting in the New Year. These placements are having a massive impact on the young people who take part and we are seeing positive long term effects.

Life Prospex has run two courses this year one in February and another in August and this has benefited 14 young people. A real highlight of the February course was the group scaling Trifon in North Wales and standing on top of Adam and Eve (a moment still talked about).

Prospex Families we are going all out to try and raise the funds for a full time family support worker which is so important in what we do. Watch this space.

Other news: New this year is the Prospex football team which are currently top of the league! Matt has been away for ten weeks development looking at projects across the UK and the USA. You can read all about it at http://www.youthworkexplored.blogspot.com/

Finally thank you for your continued support it really does make a difference.

Have a Fantastic Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

From all the Young People and Prospex Team
