Prospex Street Team
Recently commissioned by Islington Council for three years our Street Team work remains at the heart of what we do at Prospex.
Our Street Teams actively go out and engage with young people who are hanging about on the streets, estates and parks. They build up a relationship of trust with these young people this then enables them to gain the information they need, access positive activities, employment opportunities or help back into education either through another Prospex service or by referring to another provider.
The Street Team members are easily identified by wearing clothing clearly displaying the Prospex logo.
Find out more about Prospex Street TeamOur Street Teams have been consistent over the past few months with two new workers joining the sessional team. Ken Man, a seasoned detached worker joins us every Friday and Vicky Myfanwy joins us on Tuesdays. Both come with a wealth of experience and we are pleased to have them on board. We are still seeking more workers to complete the team but we are now actively engaging with young people in a wider area.
Over the summer we have also added extra afternoon sessions whenever possible as more young people are around during the day.
We are also pleased to have a worker from IDAT (Islington Drug Action Team) with us throughout August and through September on our Monday evening sessions; it has led to some positive conversations around drugs and puts a face to the service for young people making the process of young people accessing them easier.
